01APR2019 - NEWS - Navayuga Container Terminal of India achieves milestone of handling 500,000 TEU for the first time in a financial year

India’s Navayuga Container Terminal (NCT) has achieved a milestone as it handled 500,000 TEUs for the first time in a financial year. The jubilee TEU was handled on India-flagged containership SSL Kutch on March 27. NCT noted the achievement was enabled by an almost 9-fold increase in handled containers in the 5-year period starting from 58,577 TEUs in FY 2013-14. The previous financial year saw the Navayuga Container Terminal commission five new e-RTGs, increase yard capacity to 5,000 ground slots, and develop 30 acres of off-dock stuffing and de-stuffing zone close to the container terminal.
