Roles & Responsibilities
The Bunker Operations Superintendent (BOS) will act as a key liaison between Ship and Shore for all Bunkering/Debunkering activities on Maersk Liner Board operated vessels. He/she will be accountable for smooth, safe and swift Debunkering operations in the ports/s of Singapore / TPP and if required, other ports.

Key Responsibilities:
- Vessel Debunkering operations: Drive Vessel Debunkering operations by ensuring operations are:-
- Conducted at maximal safe discharge rate without contravening ML/Local regulations
- Conducted at maximum speed to ensure optimal discharge i.e. maximum quantity without additional top-ups
- Aptly coordinated to ensure debunkering operations commence immediately upon berthing but without delays to other operations
Bunker optimization:
- Ensure all Maersk Line operated vessels have appropriate grade and quantity of Bunkers to safely reach next Bunkering port
- Drive Maersk Line stock on board numbers to the optimal level ensuring capital cost tied up in bunkers is minimal while at the same time ensuring that top-ups are reduced/eliminated.
- Closely liaise with chartering, deployment and GMC team on redeliveries with respect to bunker quantity
- Ensure bunker saving initiatives are run in run in close coordination with relevant stakeholders in Maersk Line.
- Work to reduce any exceptions and ensure that lessons are learned and shared in the team through RCAs
- Process and Performance Management
- Performance reporting of allocated services with understanding on the key performance indicators for the GMC – BKROPS team.
- Engage vessel command in supporting the Bunker efficiency improvements and bridge between landside and vessel operational requirements
- Work to reduce any exceptions and ensure that lessons are learned and shared in the team through RCAs
Requirements
Who we are looking for
- Chief Engineers or experienced 2nd Engineers who have preferably sailed on the EEE class and/or 14k class of vessels with at least 2 years of rank experience
- Willing to work odd/shift hours to facilitate vessel Debunkering operations – adequate compensation and rest will be provided
- Physically fit to board Bunker barges from vessels, if required
- You need to be self-driven, have sense of urgency and perseverance to get things done and be able to elicit commitment from ship staff towards swift Debunkering operations
- Excellent English written/oral communication skills
- Able to create formalized structures and to prioritize between focus areas
- Driven and determined to succeed, ensuring proactive follow up on all action items
- A change catalyst, but also a pragmatist with a focus on win-win sustainable solutions
- Ability to establish and maintain strong close working relationships with LOCs, Vessel Command, MOT and all functions within the GMC.
