04JAN2019 - NEWS - South Korea based ship builder Samsung Heavy Industries get 49 ship building contracts during last year

South Korea based shipbuilding company Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) closed the year with 49 ships in the orderbook, the final order being announced on December 31, 2018. The order relates to the construction of an LNG carrier for an unnamed owner worth KRW 209 billion. The latest contract brings SHI’s orderbook value to USD 6.3 billion, and the ordering tally includes 18 LNG carriers, 13 containerships, 15 tankers, and 3 special purpose ships.
