Job description
Purpose
Crude Freight Trading Operators are part of the Global Freight Trading team and are responsible for providing professional freight operations to the Crude freight traders. Freight Trading Operators work closely with the freight traders to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of all Time-Chartered vessels both in and out and are essential in order to optimise the commercial benefits to the oil trading business and the P&L of the global freight trading team.
It is a fast moving and changing environment and Operators will work alongside a diverse, multi-cultured group of people. The work is varied and requires that individuals develop a thorough understanding of many aspects of the shipping and oil trading business which forms a good foundation for a career in operations, chartering, supply or oil trading.

Specifically seek to add value by exercising embedded commercial and logistical deal options and by a pro-active approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities
Conduct all freight operational activities promptly and professionally ensuring that all obligations and requirements under the charter party contract terms are met. This refers both to charters internally and with third parties.
Ensure the efficient operation of the time-chartered vessel including the issuance of voyage orders, the correct preparation of cargo tanks and the issuance of Letters of indemnity in accordance with charter party terms and conditions.
Ensure that bunker procurement is optimised in terms of location and cost in close liaison with the freight trader and in line with STASCO policy & guidelines
Ensure that agency appointments are made promptly and in line with STASCO policies & guidelines and that agents & master are made aware of any relevant charterparty or Worldscale recoverable costs.
Use RADAR tools for ship operations and records management (see further details below)
Liaise with STS and third-party TC ship owners regarding ship issues such as SIRE inspections (when required or expiring) crewing, maintenance and dry-docking schedules and to record this information accurately.
Liaise with oil operators to ensure smooth operations to avoid supply disruption and to optimise vessel returns and usage.
Provide information regarding controlled and chartered ship positions & activities to assist with ship scheduling in a constantly changing environment.
Work with other groups (demurrage claims, TC controllers) to provide timely and accurate information and documentation.
Provide necessary documentation to charterers and terminals to ensure smooth and efficient clearance of Group controlled tonnage.
Dimensions
This role is part of T&S Operations which globally manages the movement of over 7mbd Crude oil. The position reports to the Team Lead Crude Freight Operations and provides support to the Crude Freight book.
The Shell Trading Crude Freight trading team controls a fleet of approximately 80 ships at any given time comprising VLCC, Suezmax and Aframax vessels and spread between London, Barbados, Houston and Singapore.
