Morocco - Green March Day
Green March Day is a public holiday in Morocco, that annually falls on November 6. This holiday commemorates the events, that took place in the city of Tarfaya in southern Morocco on November 6, 1975.
The rights over the territory of Western Sahara were disputed between Morocco and Mauritania for a long time. Morocco claimed that this territory was historically its part, while Mauritania insisted that the territory was in fact Mauritanian. The International Court of Justice couldn't name the country, that really possessed the rights over Western Sahara, that is why Hassan II King of Morocco decided that he had a right to claim this territory to be his.
Panama - Colon Day
November is the most joyful month of the year in Panama, because its first days open the Independence Month. There are plenty of reasons for celebration, including Colon Day, that annually falls on November 5.
Celebration of Colon Day is connected with the history of independence of Panama from Colombia. The USA assisted Panama in separation from Colombia, but the latter didn't want to recognize independence of Panama. Officially Panama declared its independence on November 3, 1903, but the battle didn't finish. The government of Colombia ordered the Army to march on Panama City. On November 3, 1903 the Panamanians had to stay their grounds in the city of Colon, that is a strategic place near the Caribbean Sea.
Russia - Unity Day
Russians may celebrate Unity Day in many ways. Some may lay flowers to the monuments of national heroes, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, who led a popular uprising that freed Moscow from occupation forces on November 4, 1612.
