Canada - Alexander Graham Bell Day
The inventions of Alexander Graham Bell are worth to be honored. He developed Visible Speech, that allowed deaf people learn speaking, but his most notable invention was telephone. Let's celebrate Alexander Graham Bell Day!
Alexander Graham Bell Day was established in 2005 by a legislative Act of 2005, issued in Canadian province Nova Scotia. The day of the celebration coincides with the day, when Bell successfully tested his telephone in 1876.
Alexander Bell was very interested in the possibility of transmitting speech over wires. Invention of telegraph by Samuel Morse made the instantaneous communication between two distant points almost possible, but it was limited to the number of messages, that could be transmitted, and required a hand-delivery of message. Bell improved telegraph in a device, in which he combined the aspects of telegraph and record player. This allowed everyone to speak and hear each other from a distance.
