The annual Augsburg Peace Festival (Augsburger Hohes Friedenfest) takes place on August 8 in the German city of Augsburg, Bavaria. It is a legal holiday in this city. This makes Augsburg the only city in Germany with its own legal holiday.
The Augsburg Peace Festival commemorates the implementation of the 1648 Peace of Westphalia that ended the Thirty Years' War in the Holy Roman Empire and restored the religious freedom of the Augsburg Protestants granted by the 1555 Peace of Augsburg.
