Japan - Coming of Age Day
The second Monday of January is Coming of Age Day in Japan. This holiday is held to let young people realize that they have become adults.
Coming of Age Day (Seijin no Hi) is very popular in Japan. Young people who have turned or will turn 20 between April 2 of the previous year and April 1 of the current one are invited to attend different ceremonies that are held at local and prefectural offices. After an official ceremony young people often celebrate Seijin no Hi with their friends and family.
