Canada - The Day of Pink
The Day of Pink, sometimes referred to as the International Day of Pink, is a Canadian anti-bullying awareness campaign held on the second Wednesday of April. On this day, people are encouraged to wear an item of pink clothing to raise awareness of bullying, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia.
In September 2007, a high school student from Cambridge, Nova Scotia, Canada was bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt. Bullies called him a homosexual and threatened to beat him up. Two other students, Travis Price and David Shepherd, heard about the incident and decided to take action. They bought several dozens pink shirts in a discount store and asked their classmates to wear them for an anti-bullying campaign. The next day, almost all students showed up at school wearing pink.
