Recently a formal signing of the share ownership agreement between the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the two state-owned China Merchants Port Holdings Company (CMPort) -led joint venture companies was held. According to Colombo Development Strategies and International Trade Minister this will ensure the port is better operationalized, fully utilized, and truly be an economic contributor to the people of the Southern and Uva region as well as the whole country
