13DEC2018 - NEWS - Brazilian energy major Petrobras is set to cut around 50 jobs in its Houston office

Having closed a deal with Murphy Oil to form a Gulf of Mexico joint venture earlier this month, Brazilian energy major Petrobras is set to cut around 50 jobs in its Houston office. Both Petrobras and Murphy Oil have contributed all of their current producing Gulf of Mexico assets to joint venture company, MP Gulf of Mexico, of which Petrobras will take a 20% stake. The move will see Petrobras cut its staff numbers in Houston by more than one third, the company informed the Texas Workforce Commission.
