Bangladesh - National Mourning Day
In Bangladesh, August 15 is observed as National Mourning Day. On this day in 1975, a group of junior army officers killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family.
Sheikh Mujibur Rakhman was the first President of Bangladesh, he is regarded as the Father of the Nation. He was a charismatic nationalist leader of the Bengali independence movement. On March 7, 1971, he delivered an inspirational speech that sparked the Liberation War which resulted in the independence of Bangladesh.

India - Independence Day
Independence Day is one of the three national days in India, the other two being Republic Day (January 26) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). It is celebrated on August 15. The holiday commemorates the independence of India from the British Empire in 1947.
By the mid-19th century, most of the Indian subcontinent was controlled by the British East India Company. In 1858, the region was officially named the British Raj. The colony comprised the territory of the present-day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
