18FEB2019 - NEWS - Nepal moves forward with a plan to create a national shipping line

Nepal is boosting its plans to create a national shipping line. Prime minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli opened the Nepal Ship Office in Ekantakuna just to the south of the capital, Katmandu, near the banks of the 600 km-long Bagmati river. Nepal's Prime Minister has been trying for many years to achieve the creation of a national shipping line. In addition, Oli aspires to purchase vessels for riverine trade through the rocky parts of the country, for onward shipment through Indian ports, possibly by rail connections.
