Our Client is an international commodity trading house. Due to business developments they are currently looking to hire a senior level Chartering Manager (Freight Trader) to join them in Singapore.

In this position you will be reporting to the Head of Freight and will be a senior person within the freight team. Responsibilities will include:

• Ensure cargos are shipped in the most efficient and economical way
• Responsible for freight P&L
• Understand the market movements and take positions and manage risk accordingly
• Chartering of vessels including taking vessels on time charter
• Managing charter negotiation process
• Lots of interaction with commodity traders providing up to date and accurate freight market information on current market and future market movements
• Maintain relationships with customers, brokers, ship owners though meetings, phone calls and socialising
• Identify opportunities in the tanker market for potential profit
• Perform economic analysis, identify and evaluate alternative chartering strategies to ensure best economics are obtained for cargoes

The ideal person for this role will be able to demonstrate:

• Likely to have around 10 years tanker chartering experience
• Experience in product / chemical tanker market
• Strong analytical skills to understand the market and able to act accordingly
• P&L focused
• Excellent track record as Chartering Manager or Broker
