Algoa Bay’s offshore fuelling independent studies to gauge the sustainability of the industry and, simultaneously, the licensing of a third operator. The apparently conflicting initiatives mark an important twist in the bunkering sector, which has moved from zero consultation when the industry was launched in 2016, to the establishment in March of joint monitoring committees including environmental and maritime representatives.
