A small clean tanker ran aground near the Port of Gavrio, Andros island in Greece, on March 16. According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the 1,000 dwt Agios Georgios I grounded after it struck on rocks that knocked a small hole in the ship’s hull. At the time of the incident, Agios Georgios I was en route from Andros to the Port of Skyros with eight crewmembers and two passengers onboard. There were no injuries reported. The ship was loaded with approximately 1,000 cubic meters of gasoline and diesel oil. Although no oil spill has been detected so far, two anti-pollution barriers have been installed preventively.
