Fuel Performance Analyst

The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Fuel Performance Analyst who will be responsible for the creation of the annual fuel plan for our fleet, as well as the monthly forecasting and variance analysis. In addition, they will assist in identifying trends and opportunities for review by the Fuel Management team.

Responsibilities
Develops the annual fleet fuel plan for HAL and SBN. Includes collaboration with the fuel project team on new savings initiatives, and collaboration with onboard leadership to validate plan inputs.
Compiles monthly forecast changes for submission to finance, including consideration of itinerary changes, recent consumption figures, and savings project implementation delays.
Analyzes fuel consumption against plan and forecast, and follows up with Chief Engineers to investigate variances. Responsible for providing weekly variance and monthly explanations against forecast for Senior Leadership.
Reviews weekly fuel bunkering schedules and Corporate pricing for reasonableness. In addition, coordinates with Chief Engineers and Masters to develop the annual fuel bunkering plan that takes advantage of favorable port pricing options provided by Corporate.
Provides fuel consumption analysis support for new business case proposals and post-investment appraisals of shipboard fuel efficiency improvement projects.
Completes accurately any additional fuel-related analyses and cross brand comparisons as requested. 

Requirements
BS or BA in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience
Operational experience within the marine industry is preferred but not required
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Prior budgeting and monthly income statement analysis
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to interact well with all levels within the organization
Excellent problem solving/analytical skills with a high level of accuracy
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to complete projects
Self-starter with good problem solving skills and ability to take ownership over areas of responsibility
