Kwame Nkrumah was born on September 21, 1909 in the Gold Coast (now Ghana) to a poor family. Having graduated from a Catholic school and the Government Training College in Acca, he worked as a teacher for several years. At age 26, he traveled to the US to continue his education.
Malta - Independence Day
People of Malta celebrate national holiday of Independence Day every year on September 21. This holiday celebrates the day, when Malta gained independence from Great Britain in 1964.
Malta voluntarily became a part of the British Empire in 1800 in order to protect the people from military actions between the French and the Maltese during the Napoleonic conquest of Malta. According to the Treaty of Amiens, Britain had to evacuate the islands in 1802, but failed to keep its obligation and this led to the resumption of war between France and Britain.
