Azerbaijani Armed Forces Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Azerbaijan celebrated on June 26. It commemorates the creation of the country's military in 1918.
On May 28, 1918, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic proclaimed its independence. The armed forces of the newly created republic were established a month later, on June 26, 1918. The country's de facto first Minister of Defense was Khosrov bey Sultanov.
