Moller/Maersk group – the world`s largest group of maritime companies. We have an exciting new vacancy of Technical Superintendent based from our Felixstowe operation.

We offer 
The Technical Superintendent is to provide engineering expertise and project management skills to the Port Manager, providing timely guidance and recommendation of solutions to technical matters, including modifications to vessels to achieve best practice of operational and manning solutions.
The Technical Superintendent is also required to ensure the Regional Superintendent Engineer is informed in a timely manner of all significant operational issues that impact availability and technical readiness of the fleet in support of our service commitment.
Whilst the role is shore based the successful candidate will be required to have hands on knowledge which can be passed on to crew, this may be in the form of departmental discussions or on board the vessels as required. This role will be challenging but will provide job satisfaction to the correct candidate as the vessels can be deemed highly complex due to the high horse power of the propulsion systems.
This position is based from our Felixstowe operation but from time to time you may be required to travel within the UK and to other global locations.

Key Responsibilities for the Technical Superintendent include:

  • Ensure that all vessels in the port(s) are properly maintained and ready to meet the operational requirements of the port and our service commitment to our customers.
  • Management of the technical budget for the maintenance and dry dockings, including monitoring of and control of the costs of repairs and maintenance.
  • To be aware of the need to keep within the budget for spare parts, fuel and lube oil usage.
  • Assist the Cluster Technical Manager in the planning and co-ordination of maintenance, regular servicing, dry dockings and vessel upgrades through the designated service providers.
  • Undertake planned maintenance systems.
  • Assist the Cluster Technical Manager to co-ordinate and control of the supply of equipment, Spares etc. via SERTICA.
  • Execution of surveys, inspections and certification ensuring that the vessels are fully operational in accordance with classification requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of new vessels joining the fleet
  • Promote SVITZER commitment to work safely
  • Where a vessel is damaged to input into any investigation and claims reports and to organise the repair.
  • Coach the engineers deployed within the crew.

We are looking for
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Ideally engineering qualification to Class 1 Motor Unlimited level, although with the correct experience a lesser engineering qualification may be considered.
  • Previous operational/management experience is required
  • Marine experience including management of sea going crew is essential
  • Strong IT and technical skills
  • Experience of managing budget
