27NOV2018 - NEWS - Wärtsilä will deliver its Wärtsilä 31 engine retrofit to Norwegian vessel Gardar

Wärtsilä is set to deliver its Wärtsilä 31 engine retrofit to the Norwegian Gardar-owned vessel. This vessel was built originally in 1998. Once the retrofit is completed, the Garder fishing vessel’s fuel consumption is expected to be reduced by 200,000l, while NOx emissions will be decreased by more than 88 % a year. Wärtsilä noted that the decision to retrofit the vessel’s engine is set to have a huge impact on its environmental footprint and will result in lower operating costs. The vessel will be installed with Wärtsilä NOx Reducer emission after-treatment system with a compact silencer, and the propulsion control system will be modified.
