Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Toyokoh to explore the potential of a joint business development for an existing technology that could reduce steel corrosion on-board ships. Japan based Toyokoh has developed CoolLaser, which uses laser technology to remove rust from steel structures. As a part of this Mou both the companies will develop a device, system, and measures for the maritime industry by investigating the impact of lasers on steel material and coating adhesion.
