Bulk carrier Solomon Trader was pushed aground in Kangava Bay, Rennel Island, Solomon Island, in the evening Feb 4. The ship, anchored in bay, was loading bauxite since late January, weather said to be the main cause of an accident. Salvage is reportedly under way, it’s hampered by rough weather. No oil spill has been reported due to this incident.
