Azerbaijan - Day of the National Security Service Officers
March 28 is Day of the National Security Service Officers in Azerbaijan. This professional holiday was established in 1997 by President Heydar Aliyev.
The National Security Service (NSS) of Azerbaijan is accountable to the Azerbaijan Ministry of National Security. The MNS is an intelligence agency responsible for carrying out intelligence and counter-intelligence, protecting the state secret, detecting, revealing and preventing crimes.
The MNS of Azerbaijan was established on November 1, 1991. It was formed on the basis of the local republican committee of the Soviet Committee of State Security (KGB). Within a short period of time, the Ministry was stuffed exclusively by the national specialists.
