Corvus Energy has recently secured a contract from Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) to provide lithium ion battery-based energy storage systems (ESS) for five new electric ferries to be operated by Norway’s Fjord1. Delivery of the air-cooled Corvus Orca Energy ESS is scheduled to take place this year. The ESS will supply electrical power to the ferry’s propulsion system developed by NES. Havyard Shipyard will build the ferries at its facility in Leirvik, Sogn, Norway. The vessels will feature Havyard 932 design and are expected to start operations on four new routes in Norway from January 2020.
