30JAN2019 - NEWS - Hamburger Hafen und Logistik commissions operation of first hybrid straddle carrier at the Port of Hamburg, Germany

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) has recently commissioned the operation of its first hybrid straddle carrier prototypes at the Port of Hamburg in Germany. The two new Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers are deployed at HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT). They will be used to move containers between ship, yard, rail terminal and the truck gate at the terminal. Powered by environmentally friendly hybrid engines, the carriers are designed to use around 15% less fuel each than their predecessors and will ultimately help reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide, nitric oxide and particulate matter.
