Initiates, supervises, and manages all Clean Product Marine Operations including lightering, term vessel commitments and projects necessary to accomplish the necessary Company initiatives, in accordance with Valero policy, applicable laws and regulations, and in a safe and pollution free manner. Provides back-up to the current senior manager for Raw Material Marine Operations. Demonstrates commitment to operating ethically in a safe and pollution-free manner by adhering to Valero’s policies and standards.

Manages Marine schedulers and Supervisors. Provides timely feedback and coaching, provides challenging assignments and opportunities for development; delegates and empowers staff.
Manages the organization to provide 24/7 coverage of Valero marine operations, including ensuring back-up resources are in place.
Ensures communication of vessel operations/status and ETA’s are accurate and timely to the Commercial and Planning organizations.
Develops process/tools to ensure bunker purchasing activity for the time-charter vessels is optimized.
Builds effective internal VLO and external relationships. External relationships would include with industry peers, ship owners, inspection personnel, agents.
Systematically seeks feedback from Valero “customers” in the Commercial and Planning organizations.
Develops necessary management and exception reporting to augment management of the team.
Champions change, continually challenges the status quo, advances new initiatives and develops improvements to the business processes and procedures.
Communicates effectively with verbal and written skills at an advanced level with the ability to present effective presentations to management-level employees.
Demonstrates adaptability and composure in a highly charged dynamic environment.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Bachelor’s degree required.
Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics or Graduate of a Marine Academy program (King’s Point, A&M Galveston, etc.) preferred. 
10 years of oil and gas or marine related experience required. 
Able and willing to provide 24/7 coverage of Valero marine operations required.
All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). It is Valero’s policy that employees must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery. Please review eligibility criteria at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic .

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
