About The Role

Due to an internal transfer, we’re looking for an experienced Marine Operations Superintendent to lead a large multidisciplinary team of employees and service providers. Working across our Pilbara ports of Dampier or Cape Lambert, these positions are residentially based in Dampier or Karratha and Wickham.

You will oversee the delivery of marine operations and maintenance for our iron ore ports in WA, requiring almost 4,000 shipping movements per year across the two ports. With safety at the forefront of everything you do, you’ll be driving operational and commercial efficiencies for the transportation of iron ore, salt and fuel vessels.

You’ll take ownership of a large operating budget across towage operations, marine pilotage, draft surveying and helicopter services, be responsible for safe marine maintenance execution and marine services invoicing.

Key areas of focus will include
Safety leadership and coaching, both within the marine team and other port departments
Continuous improvement to drive safe and efficient scheduling processes for shipping
Stakeholder management and collaboration with a number of internal functions, and external stakeholders
Advancing our knowledge and application of marine risk management and incident prevention

About You

You’re an experienced and confident leader who enjoys collaborating with others and working in a large scale operational setting. Commercially and technically savvy, you’re naturally inclined to seek out opportunities for improvement in productivity and safety.

A hands-on approach has enabled you to effectively lead teams, build good working relationships, and create a positive working environment.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
Technical knowledge in marine or port operations
Experience leading and developing teams
Skills in budget and cost management 
Incident management and investigation skills 

It will also be beneficial if you have
An understanding of the Maritime industry and regulations
Understanding of contracts and contract management practices
Sound knowledge of relevant safety and environmental systems and standards

Where you will be working

Roles are based in the coastal region of the Pilbara in Western Australia. The role will be either residentially based in Dampier or Karratha, or residentially based in Wickham.
