Cetane Index

 A measure of the ignition quality of a distillate fuel that is the relative ease with which the fuel will ignite when injected into a compression - ignition engine. Cetane Index is calculated from the API gravity and the mid boiling point of the fuel. Higher Cetane Indices indicate shorter ignition lags and are associated with better combustion performances.
