Seven Sisters

The Seven original Oil companies after the break up of Standard Oil in 1911 were Standard Oil of New Jersey (now Exxon/Esso), Standard Oil of New York (now Mobil), Standard Oil of California (now Chevron), Standard Oil of Ohio (became Sohio and now the American arm of BP), Standard Oil of Indiana (now Amoco), Continental Oil (now Conoco), Atlantic Refining (became Arco and eventually Sun), more recently this definition has been for the following 7 major oil companies Shell, BP, Mobil, Esso, Gulf, Chevron, Texaco
