LQM Petroleum Services, LLC is seeking a hard-working, proactive and ambitious individual to join our marine fuel brokerage team in Cos Cob, CT as a Junior Bunker Broker .

The position will be responsible for assisting the brokerage team with marine fuel deals and to help execute and develop business with customer and suppliers.

The Junior Bunker Broker will develop and build on their existing skills and attain in depth understanding of marine fuel broking. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing, global team specializing in marketing, sales and distribution of marine fuel products.

The core duties and responsibilities include:

• Direct solicitation of ship owners, and charterers for marine fuel requirements
• Build, and maintain a book of business using good negotiating and interpersonal skills
• Consistently analyze market information, resources, and corporate training to increase business acumen.
• Business travel of approximately 20% is anticipated
• Secondary duties and responsibilities include:
• Assist brokers with daily tasks
• Conducts routine market research
• Attends industry and corporate events
• Assists brokers and customers with reporting data

The individual requirements include:

• BA or BS in maritime, shipping, international trade, business, or a related discipline is required
• Minimum of 2 years sales experience in a related industry is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
• The ability to speak and write English fluently
• The ability to speak in a 2nd language is desirable
• A willingness to meet, entertain, and travel to meet suppliers and customers outside of normal business hours is expected
• Ability to work with in an international office environment
