This position is accountable to develop, manage and implement the spot, mid, long term shipping strategies with regards to LNG delivery activities through effective optimisation efforts so as to achieve and deliver commercial business value. The primary focus is the day to day chartering and optimisation of shipping positions in close coordination with internal and external stakeholders. In addition the candidate will be required to manage any potential risks and exposure arising from chartering activities. The role will have P&L responsibilities of chartering positions. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Charter, coordinate and provide optimum spot, mid and long term shipping solutions for trading, long term sales activities and business development initiatives in accordance to company strategy and requirements.
  • Develop, lead and implement company strategy of maximizing value from spot, mid and long term chartering opportunities considering the developments in the LNG trading and shipping markets.
  • Provide shipping market outlook and generate LNG shipping forward curve based on market sentiment.
  • Optimise day to day shipping positions to generate incremental value for company with ability to deal with dynamic and volatile environment.
  • Manage shipping risk exposures in trading and origination positions and proactively recommend corresponding opportunities or mitigations.
  • Manage post-fixture activities (agency, port, bunkers, heel, insurance, settlements, demurrage).
  • Performance monitoring and reporting and claim management.
  • Close co-operation with operations and trading team for vessel co-ordination and scheduling.
  • Communication with vessels, vessel owners/operators and shipping teams of trading counterparties and terminals.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive LNG ship chartering experience with proven track record.
  • Experience in managing the LNG fleet (spot, mid, long term charter vessel) in relation to commercial, contractual and financial aspects.
  • Excellence in negotiating and contracting such TCP, COA.
  • Excellent analytical skills such as shipping economics, voyage cost analysis to generate incremental margins.
  • Experience in building relationship and has close contact with LNG traders, producers, buyers, shipbrokers, ship-owners, market analysts, market reporters and ports agents.
  • Experience in FSRU, FLNG, FSU, small scale LNG projects (advantageous)
  • Degree level education (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of LNG shipping operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leader with track record of being able to drive and deliver new initiatives
