Kazakhstan - Unity Day
On May 1, the Republic of Kazakhstan celebrates Kazakhstan People's Unity Day. It replaced International Workers' Day which was celebrated in Kazakhstan during the Soviet era.
International Workers' Day was an important public holiday in the Soviet Union. It was celebrated with marches, parades, demonstrations, and performances. The last official parade in the USSR was held on May 1, 1990.

The Mahdi is the term in Islamic eschatology which refers to the prophesied ultimate savior of humankind. It will emerge with Isa (Jesus Christ) before the Day of Judgment and will bring peace and justice to the world. Muhammad al-Mahdi is believed to be this person.
