Mozambique - Independence Day
Mozambique annually celebrates Independence Day on June 25. This holiday celebrates the day, when Mozambique gained its independence from Portugal in 1975.
The first Europeans set foot on the territory of Mozambique in 1498, when the Portuguese sailors from the voyage of Vasco Da Gama arrived to the country. The Portuguese trading posts started to appear in about 1500, displacing the Arabic commercial and military hegemony.
