Lithuania - Constitution Day
On October 25, Lithuanians celebrate Constitution Day. Although it is not a public holiday, special events are organized to commemorate the adoption of the country's constitution in 1992.
In 1990, Lithuania declared its independence from the Soviet Union. The old constitution of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic was replaced with a provisional constitution, which established a framework for the government of the Republic of Lithuania. It was based on the pre-Soviet constitution of the 1938, but maintained main elements of the Soviet-style government.
