Azerbaijan - Day of Azerbaijani Customs
Every year on January 30 the customs officers in Azerbaijan celebrate their professional day – Day of Azerbaijani Customs.
This professional day was established in 1997 by a presidential decree. January 30 was chosen as the day of observance since it's the day of establishment of the first customs service in an independent Republic of Azerbaijan in 1992.
The history of Azerbaijani Customs Service begins in the 19th century, when the Baku customs was established in 1809. At that time it was a part of the Astrakhan Customs District of the Russian Empire. The customs service had seen several changes, till the Customs of the Republic of Azerbaijan was created.
