[UTC] 28OCT2019 - NEWS - K Line building woodchip carrier for Nippon Paper contract
Japanese shipowner K Line is to build a woodchip carrier for a consecutive voyage contract with Nippon Paper.
The consecutive voyage contract with Nippon Paper sees K Line ordering a new 3.6m CFT woodchip carrier for delivery in 2022. The vessel will be dedicated to Nippon Paper to carry woodchips for paper materials and biomass woodchips for a biomass power generation business which is scheduled to start operations at Tomakomai in 2023.
The vessel will be fitted with a hybrid fin behind the propeller to save energy, a scrubber to comply with IMO 2020, and a ballast water treatment system.
The yard building the vessel was not disclosed.
